THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION.

The primary purpose of the SUPERVISORY AIRCRAFT LOADMASTER (INSTRUCTOR), GS-2185-11, is to serve as a first level supervisor over subordinate loadmasters and as an aircrew member. Plans, directs, and manages operational and training matters pertaining to assigned loadmasters. In addition, performs aircrew duties as an instructor loadmaster in the unit type aircraft (C-17, C-32 and C-130 Series aircraft).

May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.

AREA I= Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment.
AREA II= Current California National Guard members.
AREA III= Current military members of the Air Force/Army National Guard, Air Force/Army Reserve or Air Force/Army Active Duty. (Applicants who are currently in other Air/Army branches and NOT currently a member of the California National Guard (CNG) must become a member of a compatible unit of assignment within the Air Force CNG commensurate with the military grade listed in this announcement prior to federal assignment).

Military Grades: E-7 or E-8

  • Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance.
  • Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards.
  • Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Must attain and maintain mission-ready status at the appropriate crew qualification level in the unit's assigned aircraft.
  • Periodically, as prescribed by regulations, must take and pass written and in flight standardization evaluation examinations to include random no notice evaluations.
  • The incumbent is exposed to physiological hazards of flight plus physical and psychological demands of routine lengthy missions (up to 24 hours duration), must work in confined, hazardous noise areas, is subject to inclement weather during ground operations and dangerous environmental conditions during flight, and may operate in austere location.
  • Must be instructor qualified, maintaining proficiency in the Principles of Instruction.
  • Required to maintain proficiency in the use of firearms.
  • As prescribed by regulation, may be required to carry and use a concealed weapon while performing aircrew related duties.

Qualifications

General Experience: Possess experience in functions such as preparing aircraft loading plans, loading and offloading aircraft, operating loading equipment, and ensuring security of cargo in flight.

SUPERVISORY AIRCRAFT LOADMASTER (INSTRUCTOR), GS-2185-11: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-10 level experience in ensuring metrics are established and monitored to assess key result areas for successful mission accomplishment including, but not limited to, items where non-compliance would affect system reliability or result in serious injury, loss of life, excessive cost, or litigation; Experience managing the Loadmaster Standardization evaluation program; Experience developing and providing instruction on MAFFS, fire behavior and inflight MAFF duties to US as well as foreign nationals.
