You will serve as aStructural Inspector and be responsible for inspections and tests on a variety of fabricated and repair work performed by others on structural and non-structural ship components and completed structures.
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
Inspects for dimensional control, tolerances, wear corrosion, structural or surface defects, alignment, workmanship, correct specifications, and other instructions.
Performs non-destructive tests, evaluates and interprets all inconsistencies, and determines the parts usability for service.
Performs inspections using common processes but not limited to dye penetrant, mag particle, visual, and ultrasound.
Properly documents and sends findings in standard Coast Guard forms.
Must be ANSI Level 1 or 2 certified in MT, PT, UT and VT or hold a Certified Welding Inspector Certification through the AWS.
