Duties

Help
  • You will perform materials handling functions of receiving, issuing, storing, blocking, and shipping of ordnance materials to include ammunition, explosives, chemical munitions, associated components and other hazardous or inert materials.
  • You will prepare documentation and tags with corrected information such as stock number, lot/serial numbers, load date, and material condition code.
  • You will determine the detail locations with storage facilities, including temperature-controlled facilities, as well as proper stowage of cargo within vessels in accordance with the load plan.
  • You will process final receipt and issue documentation that includes downloading, uploading, printing scanner data, and updating automated information systems.

  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination to include ability to lift and carry over 45 lbs.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a commercial driver's license (CDL) endorsement for hazardous materials for off base or over public highway movement/shipment.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an explosives hazardous materials driver's license to operate motor vehicles having a gross vehicles weight up to 32,000 lbs.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires successful completion of explosives handling and safety training.

*Ability to apply knowledge of the functional characteristics and compatibility of conventional ordnance materials and operations as related to the receipt, issuing, storage, handling, segregation, preservation, and accurately maintaining inventories.
*Ability to screen, identify, and determine the serviceability status of returned, unidentified, or improperly marked explosive ordnance items through segregation.
*Ability to conduct inventories per established schedules and regulatory guidance.

This position routinely handles conventional ammunition, ammunition components, explosives and related hazardous materials and as such requires certification in accordance with Naval Sea Systems Command Instructions (NAVSEAINST) 8020.9 (Series 6907) "Ammunition and Explosives Qualification Certification Program."

Employees must successfully complete explosives safety courses as required by NAVSEA OP 5 Volume 1 and LANTPRDCOM Instruction 8023.2 current series, including Basics of Naval Explosives Hazard Control, Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) Operator Training, Explosives Hazardous Materials Driver Training, and refresher courses as required.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

This position may require call back and emergency overtime.

This position requires shift work.

This position requires shipboard work.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
