U.S. Coast Guard license required is Master of Towing or Limited Master of Towing upon Western Rivers.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment and annual physical examinations.
The position meets the criteria for random drug and alcohol testing under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program.
This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work.

I have the ability to supervise workers placing dredge equipment; plan and/or assign daily crew tasks; maintain dredge and/or pipeline equipment; assist with overhaul of engines and/or marine gear. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORTS: Light to moderate physical effort is required for continuous standing and operating of various controls. Incumbent must have color and depth perception and be able to see in low visibility conditions in order to navigate a dredge.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in the pilot house, on deck and in other locations of the vessel. Occasionally goes outside in all kinds of weather to attend to duties, being exposed to the elements and subject to slipping on wet decks. Danger of drowning is present in case of accident. There is danger from traffic hazards, particularly in foggy weather and at night.
