Help
  • Adhere to proper procedure in searching suspects.
  • Use force or take risk as necessary to arrest or apprehend violators.
  • Conduct field drug and alcohol testing of suspected offenders.
  • Issue warning, citation, or summons for an observed traffic violation.
  • Maintain radio contact with U.S. Coast Guard to provide assistance in search and rescue operations.
  • Complete operator maintenance on boats to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Provide protection to crew through operating protective firearms and safety equipment.
  • Maintain qualifications with assigned weapons.
  • Provide first aid procedures in emergency situations.
  • Coordinate appropriate responses between law enforcement, security, fire, or other emergency units.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent is required to graduate from a ten-week US Army Civilian Police School accredited Basic Police Officer Academy or receive a USACPS waiver within the first 12 months of employment.
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
  • Incumbent is required to pass entry level and annual re-certification of Department of Army police physical agility test with 30 days of entry.

  • Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • If assigned incumbent must obtain and retain one or more of the U.S. Coast Guard licenses IAW Chapter 5, AR 56-9, or a Military Ocean Terminal Concord Harbor Patrol Coxswain appointment within a year of being appointed to this position.
  • Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
  • Boat crew members must complete maritime training courses within the first two years of appointment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position requires the employee to wear a uniform while on duty.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work on a police force; work as a military police officer; knowledge of laws and regulations; law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques; and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

  • This position is designated as Key. This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization, which requires the incumbent, or designated alternate, to be screened from military recall status.
