Duties

Help

The purpose of this position is to perform a wide variety of simple cooking tasks.

The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs a full range of cooking tasks: preparing and cooking items that required little/no processing, prepares hot cereals, broils meats, cooks soups, sauces and gravies, makes cold sandwich filling.
  • Prepares other items such as: frozen hash browns, fish fillets and chicken nuggets.
  • Prepares food by chopping, peeling, paring, grinding, slicing, dicing, pureeing and breading; weights and measures ingredients and portions food as appropriate.
  • May be required to operate a cash register and collect money, make change and serve bottled/canned beer.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
  • Must have experience in food preparation and presentation gained in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, club or similar food activity.
  • Must have knowledge of cleaning and operating food service equipment.
  • Must have experience in seasoning food and cooking to completion.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.

Additional information
