The purpose of this position is to perform a wide variety of tasks in the Recreation Department (Alpine Adventures, Point Wellness Center, and the Hausberg Ski Lodge).
In accordance with the NATO Status of Forces Agreement with Germany, citizens of the host country and citizens of a NATO country not married to an active-duty U.S. military member are not eligible for US NAF employment.
Works under the general supervision of the Leisure Activities Manager in a variety of Edelweiss Leisure outlets. Specifically, the Alpine Adventures, Point Wellness Center, and the Hausberg Ski Lodge.
Duties will range from working as a retail salesclerk, activity reservationist, equipment fitter, shuttle driver, tour guide, and activities facilitator.
Provides information to guests on all Leisure Activities offered, including schedules, prices, length of activities, as well as available local "on your own" activities. Reserving bookings and taking payment for all activities offered, including Tours, Spa treatments, and Ski lesson activities. Assist guests in selecting and fitting clothing and equipment for winter and summer activities, such as skis, snowboards, and bicycles. Sells various souvenir retail items as well as accountable tickets for local ski lifts and attractions. Prepares daily activity reports that indicate the number of passengers on each tour, tickets sold, and money collected, among other details. Informs the supervisor when activity capacities are met, allowing them to adjust schedules and increase availability for guests.
Drives and leads groups of visitors through historical sites and areas, providing explanations, identification, and descriptions of monuments, as well as interpretation of German and especially Bavarian history. Includes information on historical facts and other characteristics of the tour area and circumstances associated with their origin. Assists in developing new Tours to better serve guests. All tour presentations are conducted in English.
Ensures a safe and fun environment for Just for Kids' activities and field trips, including 100% accountability of all participants.

Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position
A pre-employment physical is required
Must be willing to work irregular work schedule (nights/weekends/holidays)
Must be able to obtain a valid USAREUR driver's license.
All required background checks of AR215 -3, Chapter 2, paragraph 213: i. must be satisfactory completed and maintained to include the initiation/completion of Child and Youth National Agency Check with Inquiries (CNACI).
Must have or be able to obtain an American Red Cross First Aid, CPR/AED.
Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry 40 pounds, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis. Duties may involve working both indoors and outdoors.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, hold a valid U.S. passport, and be at least 18 years of age.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE CLEARLY VERIFIABLE IN YOUR RESUME.
One year of experience in the duties outlined above.
Must have or be able to obtain current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED training certification within 6 months of hire.
Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
Preferred candidates will have experience in the hospitality or recreation field.
Education
High School graduate or equivalent.
Additional information
This is a limited tenure position not to exceed 15 months. It is an unaccompanied program because we cannot provide logistical support to family members. Dorm-style housing is provided in lieu of a living quarters allowance. Transportation to and from Germany is provided in accordance with the terms of the Joint Travel Regulation and the executed transportation agreement. Military spouses and family members currently residing within the Garmisch Military Community who apply under this announcement will be considered for a regular appointment.

All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit.
A probationary period may be required.
