THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION

The primary purpose of the AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-12, is to act as the crew chief with responsibility for directing the total maintenance effort on individually assigned aircraft. The work involves the total maintenance of complex, high performance military aircraft, ranging from multi-purpose heavy, multi-engine transports to the most modern sophisticated fighters and bombers. Fully responsible for providing detailed technical insight on individual aircraft's level of Mission Capability (MC), then develops and recommends a comprehensive course of action to maintain the aircraft at Full Mission Capability (FMC). All aircraft are fully integrated in and are part of the Total Force Mission of the United States Air Force. This position is responsible to fully prepare assigned aircraft for Aerospace Expeditionary Force/Wing (AEF/AEW) Operations around the world.

Compatible Military Assignment and Grade are required. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. Military technicians must hold the military grade specified for the position.

Qualifications

General Experience: Possess experience or training that has provided the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications; Skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment

AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-12: Must haveat least 18 months performing duties as a dedicated crew chief; experience performing, coordinating, and/or overseeing the work and any periodic inspections to be done on an aircraft whether it is alone, or with the assistance of other mechanics and/or workers; experience serving as the technical authority to advise on, examine, and approve all airframe, mechanical, electrical, and pneudraulic repairs of assigned aircraft in addition to journey-level experience or training equivalent to or exceeding the WG-11 level.
