JOB TITLE:        Financial Technician

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

This position is located in the Daily Activity Reports Unit in the Revenue Accounting Section of Shared Services Center Japan (SSCJ). Processes Daily Activity Reports (DARs) of sales and other revenue and expense related to daily activity.

Receives Daily Activity Reports (DAR¿s) from facilities along with supporting documents.  Reviews documents for validity, completeness and correctness of accounting data, including signatures, making any necessary corrections for discrepancies. Communicates with activity managers when needed to discuss and/or resolve issues with the DAR.

Performs data processing entries for the reconciled DARs into the Cash Receipts Journal via Comptron, the financial software system, and verifies the data.  

Reconciles general ledger subsidiary accounts for gift certificates, advanced payments, un-deposited receipts, and others used regularly by DAR.  Maintains required records and ledgers, prepares month-end accounting documents, and prepares month end entries.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy.  Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner.  Takes action to solve problems quickly.  Alerts the higher level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.  

Adheres to safety regulations and standards.  Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.

Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  1. Must have completed no less than six (6) credit hours of college level accounting classes in an accredited college or university.
    OR
    One year of progressively more responsible accounting work experience that demonstrated sufficient skills and abilities required to the position.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Demonstrated proficiency in the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in a professional Accounting environment.
  2. Proficient in operating Microsoft Programs to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
