Duties

Help
  • Performs repair work on a variety of gas and diesel powered equipment including gas powered rental golf cars, multi-gang mowers, tractor drawn mowers, greens mowers, aerators and other mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnoses malfunctions of equipment to determine the source of trouble, extent of repairs required, and the tools and parts necessary to successfully make repairs.
  • Accomplishes minor engine repairs by cleaning, adjusting, and/or replacing defective parts of components and systems, including wheel cylinders, mufflers, brake shoes, carburetors, etc.
  • Performs both minor and major electric and gas welding tasks as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • Work is performed inside and outside. Work area is frequently drafty, noisy, and exhaust fumes are present. Exposed to dirt, grease, battery acid, oil, hydraulic fluids, and gasoline and diesel fuel, that may burn or irritate the skin.
  • Exposed to fertilizers, herbicides, and fungicides that may burn or irritate the skin, eyes, and lungs. Frequent exposure to the possibility of cuts, bruises, shocks, burns, and strains.

Qualifications

Skills and Knowledge:
Must have the knowledge required to diagnose and determine source of malfunctions and the skill to make necessary repairs to a variety of Turf related equipment and hydraulic drive motors, their components and electrical systems. Knowledge of the assembly, disassembly, operation and installation of all parts and components of both gasoline and diesel driven specialized golf grounds maintenance equipment. Must be able to read and interpret a variety of manufacturer's manuals and parts listings. Must have the knowledge and skill necessary to make fabrication repairs to equipment to include using a torch and welding. The work requires the skill to use a variety of tools common to the trade and test equipment such as motor diagnostic equipment and compression testers, motor analyzers, electrical component test benches and special measuring instruments such as inside and outside micrometer, calipers, and vernier calipers.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not, be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
