Duties

Help

This position is located in the Air National Guard (ANG) Group Commander's Support Staff (CSS). The purpose of this position is to function as the Unit Deployment Manager ensuring personnel are qualified and ready to meet Air Expeditionary Force requirements.

Duties

  • Plans, organizes, and oversees all unit level deployment activities. Configures and maintains functional Unit Type Codes (UTCs) as postured by MAJCOM FAMs (Functional Area Managers) using available unit assets. Notifies the wing Installation Deployment Officer (IDO) and MAJCOM FAM for remedial action when UTCs cannot be supported due to changes in manpower or equipment.
  • Establishes metric and system analysis systems for unit and higher level management to assess the efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with regulatory procedures. Analyzes the combat capability of unit through intensive evaluation of training, equipment status, manning, and unit supervision.
  • Provides technical guidance and recommendations to senior leadership regarding unit deployment program. Advises commander on the direction, management, and operation of all aspects of unit deployment capabilities.
  • Ensures personnel and equipment readiness. Ensures the unit is ready to meet wartime and peacetime mobility tasking's by scheduling and tracking unit deployment training. Ensures authorized deployment equipment and supplies are maintained in a constant state of readiness.
  • Periodically reviews folders to ensure completeness, currency, and accuracy. Prepares deployment availability code (DAV) waiver letters as needed, and forwards to deployment processing unit. Tracks and reports squadron recall response status to the commander and Installation Personnel Readiness office.
Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • This appointment is an indefinite position not to exceed 4 years.
  • The incumbent of this position description must have at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program and Veterans Preference.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration which will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
  • This position may be designated mission essential based on local conditions. Mission essential personnel report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting and remain on duty during phased or early release.
  • Incumbent may be required to work other than normal duty hours to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE includes experience, education or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information. Progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the ability to provide technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes1-year specialized experience, education or training equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants must have experience providing technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Applicants must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of administrative procedures and practices of management. Experience developing administrative procedures.

Education

There are no specific educational requirements for this position. However, substitution of Education for Specialized Experience is allowed.
