Duties

Help
  • Serves as Program Manager (Education Information Technology) for the overall management, control, coordination and execution of specified projects for Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA).
  • Determine appropriate products or services with stakeholders to define project scope, requirements, risks, and deliverables.
  • Manages, leads, or administers project resources.
  • Develops, modifies, or provides input to project plans.
  • Establish and lead Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) to initiate, plan, execute, monitor/control and close projects to in support of stakeholder’s technology requirements.
  • Coordinates with Education Directorate to identify and develop technology requirements that support the curriculum and meets policy requirements and the needs of students and teachers.
  • Participate in the process of engineering and design to ensure services are in alignment with industry standards, and in order to improve current business processes for the education field.
  • Give presentations or briefings on all aspects of projects.
  • Serves as a Contract Officer Representative (COR) for multiple contracts.

  • This position requires Contracting Officer Representative within 6 months of appointment.
  • This position requires an IAT Level II Certificate within 6 months of appointment.
  • This position requires a secret security clearance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Basic Requirement for Program Manager (Education Information Technology):

A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, such as Education Policy, Education Research and Assessment, Education Applied Research, School Counseling, Educational Organizational Leadership, Educational Leadership, K-12 Curriculum and Instruction, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Program/Project Managment, or Information Technology.

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, such as Education Policy, Education Research and Assessment, Education Applied Research, School Counseling, Educational Organizational Leadership, Educational Leadership, K-12 Curriculum and Instruction, Elementary Education, or Secondary Education, Program/Project Managment, or Information Technology plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the four-year course of study described in A above.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. One year of specialized experience which includes develop, modify, or provide input to Information Technology project plans to meet organizational objectives; provide technology program and project support and guidance for a stakeholder's technology requirements; monitoring contracts to ensure that technical services or training is provided, and ensure materials or products purchased are received as stipulated; Provide strategic planning input for an organization as it pertains to technology for inclusion in a curriculum or educational usage. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
