Duties

Help
  • You will be responsible for determining the cause of mechanical operating problems, traces and locates defects, and makes repairs to Weight Handling Equipment such as portal, dock, and fixed cranes.
  • You will be responsible for performing structural fabrication to include bend, cut and shape structural components in support of repairs or replacement of such.
  • You will be responsible for installing, testing, repairing, and making critical adjustments to various types of operational, load bearing and operational safety devices in accordance with written guidance or higher directives.
  • You will be responsible for requiring driving and operating various types of government vehicles and material handling equipment in support of maintenance purposes.
  • You will be responsible for providing crane maintenance both preventative and corrective to TRIREFFAC-KB category I, II, and II cranes.
  • You will repair, overhaul, or modify complex equipment that involves more complicated and varied systems that are included on the portal and dock cranes and are required to be maintained.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current IT-II level designation.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION:

  • Experience determining the cause of mechanical operating problems, traces, and locating defects and making repairs to weight handling equipment such as portal, dock, and fixed cranes that include Category I, Category II, and Category III cranes.
  • Experience overhauling or rebuilding major systems such as diesel and other types of internal combustion systems and mechanical brakes, systems, and controls.
  • Experience replacing parts such as injection valves, cylinder heads, cylinder sleeves, pistons, rings connecting rods, gears, bearings, gaskets, travel motors, and crank shafts to include the intricate time requirements of these complex fuel injection systems.
  • Experience installing, testing, repairing, and making critical adjustments to various types of operational, load bearing and operational safety devices.
  • Experience performing structural fabrication to include bending, cutting, and shaping structural components in support of repairs or replacement of such.

The incumbent is exposed to moving objects and machinery sharp edges, overhead hazards, foot hazards, and is required to work at various heights. The incumbent works in an industrial environment.

The incumbent is required to lift tools and materials weighing up to 40 pounds. Work is performed in uncomfortable positions for long periods. The work requires frequent standing, reaching, climbing, and crouching. They work on top of, under, and in tight compartments of equipment in cramped and awkward positions. Incumbent may be required to work at heights of 100 feed or more.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
