Duties

Help
  • Mows grass, lays sod, weeds flowerbeds, trims and edges walkways and lawns. Prunes shrubs and trees; applies fertilizer, waters plants, cleans out drainage ditches, shovels snow from walks and driveways.
  • Loads and unloads conveyances; moves materials using wheelbarrows, hand trucks or dollies; stacks and arranges supplies for storage; collects refuse and recyclable materials. Cleans rugs and drapes.
  • Digs, fills and tamps soil and gravel in earth excavations; levels ground using pick, shovel, tamper and rake. Maintains stock of cleaning materials and implements used. Notifies supervisor when additional materials are needed.
  • Cleans, waxes and polishes floors using heavy industrial-powered equipment. Adjusts, cleans, oils and changes attachments on machines. Washes and replaces room fixtures using ladders and scaffolds. Uses chemicals and cleaning solutions.
  • Moves heavy items of furniture and office equipment as required.

  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.
  • Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry moderate to heavy objects up to 50 pounds. Must also be able to actively bend, stoop, stand, reach, and work in awkward positions.
  • Works indoors and outdoors. May be exposed to adverse weather conditions when working outdoors.
  • Exposed to drafts, noise, dust, and dirt. Possibility of bruises, muscle strains, cuts and scrapes.
  • Required to follow safety procedures and use standard safety equipment such as gloves, ear protectors, and safety glasses to avoid possible hazards in the work area.
  • This position has a rotating work schedule which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

Three (3) month of laboring experience required. Must have the ability use, control and clean tools and power equipment used, and ability to follow oral and/or written instructions involving duties with several distinct tasks or steps without constant supervisor of each task assigned

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.

  • Foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
