Analysts in the unit communicate regularly with and provide assistance to Congressional committees that have jurisdiction over the relevant programs. The unit chief is responsible for ensuring high-quality, nonpartisan analysis, often under tight deadlines. Key responsibilities include reviewing a substantial volume of formal cost estimates and coordinating the preparation of 10-year baseline spending projections and annual analyses of the President's budgetary proposals.
