Duties

Help

Assists with administration of the workers compensation program for all nonappropriated funds (NAF) personnel employed worldwide by the Air Force. Explains general compensability criteria, claim filing instructions, as well as Air Force policy and procedures to HRO payroll offices and injured employees alike. Assists with the decision-making and administrative support of the workers compensation program. Screens all incoming claims from the field by verifying and reviewing for completeness and accuracy, assures appropriateness of injury and medical documentations, inputs all pertinent data according to coding requirements and maintains the accuracy of the workers compensation database, runs and designs reports, ensures backup, and reports all program/database malfunctions to branch management. Assists with the management, monitoring, directing, and oversight of work conducted by ancillary service vendors necessary to run the workers compensation program. Processes and assists with responses to notification of assignments for the Early Intervention Case Management Program. This includes, but is not limited to: verifying eligibility for program participants, documentation verification, screening and intake of initial claim information, exchange and coordination of verbal and written communication and correspondence between HRO, payroll, supervisors, medical providers, and examiners. Documents and maintains program records of all actions taken for proper reimbursement of ancillary service providers according to established contracts, fee schedules, and branch policies and procedures. When needed, researches and resolves problem claims for submission to claims examiners. Assists Branch Manager with special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:
Experience with personal computer operations. Experience with preparing and editing correspondence, spreadsheets, databases, reports, and briefings. Experience working multiple projects simultaneously. Experience working effectively with senior management, peers and subordinates and providing customer service.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Good written and verbal communication skills.
  2. Experience analyzing problems, applying sound judgement, applying practical applications and providing alternate solutions using independent thinking and initiative.
  3. Experience with workers compensation insurance programs, concepts, claims adjudication procedures, and insurance/medical terminology.
  4. Experience with Insurance claims office environment.
