Duties

Help
  • You will respond to fire alarms, structure fires, vehicle fires, hazardous materials incidents, confined space rescue emergencies, high angle rescue emergencies, water rescue emergencies, and other emergencies.
  • You will perform daily preventative maintenance inspections of vehicles and equipment including but not limited to draining and flushing pumps, raising ladders, replacing or refilling fuel on small engines.
  • You will perform electro cardiology procedures including taking and interpreting electrocardiograms, performing manual defibrillation, and providing transcutaneous external pacing.
  • You will perform advanced and invasive airway procedures that may include needle/surgical cricothyrotomy, pleural decompression, endotracheal/nasal intubation, continuous positive airway pressure, or automatic transport ventilator devices.
  • You will calculate patient medication doses.

  • This position is considered Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You are required to possess and maintain a current Fire Fighter I, Fire Fighter II, Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic through the National Registry, Driver Operator Pumper, and Hazardous Materials Operation certifications.
  • You are required to obtain and maintain the following certificates: Emergency Vehicle Operator, US Government Motor Vehicle Operator's Identification Card (OF 346).
  • You are required to obtain and maintain the following certifications during the first year of employment: Airport Fire Fighter, Driver Operator Aerial, Hazardous Operator Aerial, Airfield Operators Permit.
  • You are required to obtain and maintain the following certifications during the first year of employment: ICS (Incident Command System)-100, ICS-200, ICS-700, and ICS-800

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Responding to fire alarms, structure fires, vehicle fires, hazardous materials incidents and other technical rescue events as a certified member of a firefighting crew.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
