INTRODUCTION:

This position is located within the Sakura Theater, Business Operations Division, Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS), Iwakuni, Japan. The primary purpose of this position is to facilitate Theater Operations, specifically overseeing the snack bar and supporting the operations of Professional Military Education (PMEs) as needed. The position reports directly to Sakura Theater Assistant Manager.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The incumbent assists in monitoring and controlling the smooth operation of the theater snack bar, food and beverage services, and related activities during days, nights, or weekends in the absence of management. This includes overseeing snack bar operations, food quality, cleanliness, inventory management, and customer order handling. The incumbent also supports the successful execution of PMEs by assisting with their setup, service, and food-related requirements.

This role requires leading snack bar attendants, contractors, and other staff, and coordinating with other departments to identify and resolve potential operational issues promptly.
The incumbent helps determine equipment and activity maintenance requirements and ensures the proper maintenance and replacement of property or equipment.

The incumbent assists with the procurement of necessary supplies, such as food merchandise, paper goods, and cleaning supplies. They maintain and enforce the security of funds, merchandise, supplies, equipment, and property in accordance with established policies and procedures. Responsibilities include issuing, receiving, securing, depositing, and maintaining accountability for funds. The incumbent completes daily and monthly financial reports, including tracking the cost of goods and labor, and conducts unscheduled cash counts. They prepare reports on significant occurrences during their shift.

The incumbent assists in ensuring that the theater, snack bar area, and associated equipment are properly maintained, sanitized, and cleaned. This includes overseeing food preparation, storage, and serving areas, ensuring compliance with safety standards and sanitation protocols. Customer complaints are handled promptly, with major issues referred to higher management or the appropriate authorities. The incumbent inspects and secures the facility at the end of their shift.

Additional responsibilities include assisting in budget preparation by providing input on operational requirements and maintaining activity records. The incumbent may plan and schedule daily service menus for activities and events, assist with preparing work schedules, assign tasks, and conduct staff training. The incumbent may provide recommendations for employee performance appraisals, promotions, and disciplinary actions.

The incumbent ensures compliance with fire, safety, sanitation, and security regulations. They also oversee and direct food and beverage operations during PMEs and snack bar operations, ensuring quality control measures are in place, food products meet quality standards, and sanitation is maintained. This includes compliance with food safety standards such as temperature controls and First In, First Out (FIFO) storage practices.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.

Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.

Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   
1.    At least one year experience demonstrating knowledge of fast food, restaurant or business operations.  
2.    Familiarity with cash handling procedures and sales operation.  
3.    Must obtain Food Handler's Certification within 3 months of employment. 
4.    Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule to include weekends, holidays, early mornings and late nights. 
5.    Ability to communicate both orally and in writing, and to provide work direction to other employees.  
6.    Must be a minimum age of 18 years or older.

This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 20lbs independently and objects over 20lbs with assistance. 
Position involves prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and walking. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier-1 background investigation with favorable eligibility as required.
