Duties

Help

As a FLIGHT SERVICES SPECIALIST, GS-2101-9, you will:

  • Brief pilots on mission, aircraft and flight plan
  • Assure pilot and crew are qualified
  • Complete risk analysis projection
  • Sign briefing documents
  • Conduct post mission debriefs
  • Provides flight following services
  • Conduct direct voice communication with aviators
  • Process, clear and transmit flight plans
  • Initiate search and rescue for overdue aircraft and implement the crash rescue plan
  • Prepare, maintain and file records, charts, graphs, and reports
  • Compile and summarize reports for analysis
  • Maintain and account for aircrew training records, medical recommendations, aeronautical orders, physiological training, and aviation service data
  • Maintain arrival and dispatch records
  • Schedule and dispatch assigned aircraft and aircrews
  • Serve as the Synthetic Flight Training System (SFTS) coordinator
  • Maintain current file of aircraft flying regulations
  • Supervise on-the-job training of unit flight operations personnel

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

This full- performance level position provides direct support to unit and other military and civilian aircrews during scheduled and unscheduled flying and ground activities.

Additional Employment Requirements:

-Participation in direct deposit is mandatory

-May be required to successfully complete a probationary period

-Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation

-Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service

Title 32 Dual-Status Positions:

Military Grade:

Min: A1C/E-3 and Max: MSgt/E-7

Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Compatible Military Assignments

Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a *military unit* compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Experience, education, or training interpreting, explaining, and/or applying a variety of regulations and procedures. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least 12 months experience, education, or training in the following;

  • Arranging or procuring transportation for personnel, cargo or freight.
  • Experience in pre and post auditing of freight bills, bills of lading, and personnel transportation vouchers.
  • Experience coordinating and negotiating with organizations/personnel both orally and in writing to resolve differences/problems.
  • *For positions requiring supervisory functions; experience which included responsibility for the supervision and management of personnel.

Security Clearance

Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance within 1(One) Year of appointment.
