Duties

Help
  • You will implement policies, conducts screenings, clinical counseling services and case management services for Behavioral Health Branch programs.
  • You will administer a multi-modality comprehensive rehabilitation and treatment program to deal with Behavioral Health related issues.
  • You will conduct psychosocial assessments with emphasis on diagnosis and recommendation for treatment.
  • You will analyze proposed programs to determine effectiveness and impact, and recommends changes or improvements in methods and procedures to diagnosis and develops treatment plans.
  • You will Identify or develops sources for needed therapy and other support services.
  • You will plan, develop, and implement programs designed to support families within the community in order to foster positive and healthy relationships within the family structure, and to resolve family discord.
  • You will evaluate community resources to determine availability, applicability and best utilization of services.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • Incumbent may work a fluctuating work schedule to complete work assignments outside of the typical work week and work hours (to include weekends as necessary.
  • The incumbent must have obtained and be able to maintain, at the independent licensing level, a license as an LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or LP and remain in good standing with the corresponding state board of issuance.
  • Must have a current state license to practice independently as a Clinical social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Clinical Psychologist and must provide a photocopy with their application.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Act as a subject matter expert on all behavioral health counseling treatment such as implementing programs and policies to support clients families as a means to prevent behavioral health issues, conduct psychosocial assessments to determine needs, develop treatments based off capabilities and identified issues, and reviewing treatment plans to see if improvements are needed.

Education

In addition to meeting the specialized experience, you will also be required to meet the following the individual occupational requirement(s) (IOR).

0101:

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

OR

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.


0180:

Degree: major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations except clinical psychology and counseling psychology. These two specializations have additional educational requirements, as stated below:

  • Clinical psychology: For positions at grades GS-11 and above, satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required.
  • Counseling psychology: For positions at grades GS-9 and above, satisfactory completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology is required.

0185:

Degree: social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

Master's degree with practicum: Applicants who complete all of the requirements for a master's degree in social work that included a practicum are eligible for GS-9.


In addition to meeting the IORs, you can qualify with the following educational requirement in lieu of specialized experience:
3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
