Duties

Help

The purpose of this position is to provide customer service in the check out and receipt of automotive repair equipment, inventory maintenance and scheduling appointments for use of automotive repair/paint stalls within Skills Development.

The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Issues, receives and schedules the use of equipment, tools and repair stalls for patrons.
  • Determines type of repairs needed and suggests tools needed to accomplish tasks.
  • Provides instruction to customers.
  • Operates cash register and accounts for cash using established procedures.
  • Maintains inventory control records.
  • Inspects tools and facility after customer use.
  • Cleans and grinds tools requiring sharp edges.
  • Researches and orders automotive parts needed by mechanics and managers.
  • Maintains inventory in POS database.
  • Completes customer work orders and schedules vehicle maintenance for customers.
  • May act as the primary or alternate equipment custodian.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:
  • Must have experience which demonstrates knowledge of a wide variety of automotive tools and parts; to include setting up and maintaining a neat, well organized and secure storage area.
  • Must have experience working with patrons providing quality customer service.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instruction, make simple mathematical calculations and be able to follow cash handling procedures.
