Summary

As a Program Support Assistant, you will provide comprehensive administrative support to the Veterans Canteen Service Finance Center, contributing to both the daily operations and strategic planning efforts, including field support as needed. In this role, you will report to the Supervisory Accountant and play a critical role in the operations of the Finance Center.

Duties

Help

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Delinquent Debt Collection Coordination: Act as the main point of contact for collecting delinquent debts, including those in the Treasury Offset Program (TOP) and referred to the Debt Management Center.
  • Customer Support for Electronic Payroll Deduction (EPD): Provide primary customer service and technical support for the Electronic Payroll Deduction (EPD) program.
  • Transaction Research and Adjustment: Research transactions in variance databases and make necessary account adjustments to correct system errors
  • Data Privacy and Professional Conduct: Maintain a high level of professionalism and ensure compliance with policies regarding Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and sensitive data.
  • EPD System Monitoring and Issue Escalation: Monitor EPD system operations, verify payments each pay period, identify misuse (e.g., shoplifting), and ensure system interfaces function properly and escalating issues as needed.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • EPD System Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the EPD database, reporting functions, and payroll deduction processes.
  • Data Extraction and Organization: Ability to extract and organize data for accurate recording in the general ledger system.
  • Financial Systems Navigation: Familiar with various computer programs used for payment input, customer account inquiries, collections, and responding to canteen questions.
  • Payroll Deduction and Account Structure: Understanding of the VCS Payroll Deduction module and the structure of customer accounts.
  • Microsoft Office and Database Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and basic database functions, including Microsoft Access for communication and data handling.
Minimum Specialized Qualifying Requirements:
One (1) year of experience comparable to the duties of a Program Support Assistant - EPD or the educational equivalent coursework in accounting/bookkeeping practices.
