Duties

Help
  • You will support the development, implementation, and management of the geospatial data model adaptations.
  • You will recommend and implement changes to the data model when necessary to support business processes and decision-making requirements.
  • You will apply procedures for data acquisition, data maintenance processes, data archival, and data access levels and protection.
  • You will perform specialized and complex 2D and 3D geospatial queries and analysis.
  • You will integrate and analyze geospatial and non-geospatial data to determine data relationships and discover trends or patterns.
  • You will contribute to the installation geospatial data distribution policy and procedures, ensuring appropriate documentation requirements accompany data provided to agencies or contractors performing work.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following Specialized Experience: performing data manipulation for standardization and data compliance; creating and maintaining geospatial data in support of data collection, geospatial analysis, or mapping projects; coordinating and obtaining data from outside sources for geospatial data fusion, mapping, and geospatial data analysis.

Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields.

    OR

  2. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.


In lieu of the specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-11:
  • I have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled OR
  • I have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled OR
  • I have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
