Duties

Help

In a developmental capacity, receives training and close supervision in the performance of duties and responsibilities as set forth in the position guide for Contract Specialist, NF-4 (PD 18909). Gradually assumes more responsibility and learns to perform the full scope of the duties required of the position. Completes a prescribed agenda of formal/informal classroom and on-the-job training and self-development as set forth in the individual Training Development Plan. Non-competitive promotion of the incumbent of this position may be effected after one year of satisfactory performance to Contract Specialist, NF-04 (PD 18909, 18908, or 18907). The target position description must be classifiable to its present title, pay plan, series, and pay band level at the time the incumbent is performing the full scope of the major duties under the proper level of supervision.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE CLEARLY VERIFIABLE IN YOUR RESUME. GOVERNMENT POSITIONS MUST INCLUDE PAY PLAN, SERIES, GRADE, TO AND FROM DATES, AND GOVERNMENT AGENCY/DEPARTMENT. Must include at least one year of experience performing duties at a level which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform successfully in the position.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Demonstrated experience in a customer service environment which provided a basic understanding of principles and concepts of contracting.
2. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software.

Highly Qualifications:
1. At least one year's experience with purchasing or acquisitions.
2. Experience providing guidance and assistance to internal and/or external customers.
3. Experience conducting market research.
4. Skill in written and verbal communication with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
5. A bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following fields: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management.
