Summary
The Wilkes-Barre VAMC positions are within the Motor Transportation Unit Services. The incumbent(s) will operate gasoline, diesel, or electronic powered wheeled vehicles to haul cargo and fuel, transport vehicles carrying up to 8 or more passengers to and from VAMC and other healthcare facilities and homes, tow or recover equipment. The vehicles are driven in restricted traffic environments on Government installations, public roads and highways, or under cross-country conditions.
Duties of the positions include but are not limited to:
Incumbents operate gasoline, diesel or electric powered vehicles with gross vehicle weight of up to and including 26,000 lbs.
Vehicles operated include pick-up trucks, automobiles, 12 passenger shuttle van and patient transport vehicles.
Transports passengers.
Displays courteous and respectful behavior to all customers.
Responsible for the safety of all passengers with various physical and mental health conditions.
Operates a van-type truck with hydraulic tail gates.
Load, secure, transport, and unload wheelchair occupants.
Cleans and washes vehicles.
Performs operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires.
Work Schedule: 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Four 10 hour shifts either Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday
