Under the direction of the Marketing Director, the Marketing Strategist supports the development, execution, and evaluation of marketing strategies aimed at enhancing program participation, improving communication efficiency, and increasing the financial performance of 374th Force Support Squadron (FSS) activities. This position plays a vital role in shaping the public image of FSS programs through data-driven strategies, targeted messaging, and coordinated promotional efforts.
The Marketing Strategist assists in identifying and implementing innovative marketing techniques, platforms, and outreach methods that align with the squadron's goals. This includes conducting both qualitative and quantitative market research to understand customer behavior, preferences, and emerging trends. The strategist adapts or modifies research techniques using industry-standard software, databases, and marketing instruments specifically developed for use within Force Support. Responsibilities include administering surveys, collecting and tabulating data, and assisting the Marketing Director in analyzing and interpreting results. Insights gathered are used to recommend program improvements and inform strategic decision-making.
The Marketing Strategist keeps the Marketing Director informed on evolving consumer trends and their implications for FSS services. Informed by these insights, the strategist makes actionable recommendations for campaign messaging, program enhancements, and advertising methods. This role is also responsible for helping develop and implement communication strategies that ensure targeted and efficient outreach to intended audiences, using the most appropriate media channels.
A key function of the role is the review and quality assurance of all incoming marketing requests, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with branding standards and mission goals. The strategist oversees the creative development process-including graphic design, videography, photography, social media and written content-to ensure all marketing materials support the broader campaign strategy and adhere to FSS branding guidelines.
The strategist collaborates closely with activity managers, graphic designers, and other stakeholders to gather event information, develop advertising timelines, and craft tailored marketing plans. These efforts include recommending the most effective media mix (digital, print, radio, social media) based on audience demographics, behavior, and program goals. The strategist also assists in planning and executing advertising campaigns, regularly attending major events to provide real-time, constructive marketing feedback and support.
In addition to campaign planning, the Marketing Strategist develops and supports training programs for FSS staff on topics such as the marketing process, customer service best practices, advertising methods, and digital media strategies. The strategist also prepares and delivers briefings and presentations to key base functions such as the Commander's Call and Newcomer's Orientation, helping to keep internal and external stakeholders informed of current and upcoming marketing efforts.
The strategist is responsible for crafting concise and compelling scripts for weekly AFN live radio shows to highlight FSS services, promotions, and events in an engaging manner. The position may also arrange or provide photographic and video support for marketing coverage of events, ensuring visuals are available for multi-platform use.
Finally, the Marketing Strategist performs other related duties as assigned in support of the overall mission of the Marketing Office and the 374th Force Support Squadron. Performs other related duties as assigned.
