Duties

Help
  • Works under the direction of the higher level supervisor, who provides general instructions, standard procedures, overall priorities and policies. Controls work operations, quality and quantity of work.
  • Plans the use of workers, equipment, facilities, and materials. Establishes deadlines, priorities, work sequences and plans work assignments based on schedules, methods and policies.
  • Investigates works related problems, excessive costs, low productivity. Implements corrective actions. Recommends solutions to staffing problems.
  • Supports and explains programs to subordinates. Determines training and performance standards. Initiates recommendations for promotions and reassignments. Investigates and resolves grievances and complaints. Maintains work records and reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Appointment subject to favorable suitability determination.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license.
  • The worker makes repairs and installations from floor level, ground level, and from ladders. Work requires standing, stooping, bending, climbing, crawling, and kneeling for extended periods in uncomfortable positions.
  • Worker may lift and move materials weighing up to 40 pounds and, occasionally heavier items with assistance.
  • A health assessment is required.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.
  • Incumbent is required to complete a child contact Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.

Qualifications

Must have a working knowledge of wood working techniques and basic shop mathematics.
Must be skilled in use and operation of common hand and power tools and measuring devices of the carpentry and painting trades to perform a variety of tasks.
Must have knowledge of standard surface preparation and coating methods and techniques.
Must have ability to read and follow basic blueprints and sketches.
Must have skill in manipulating controls of a motor vehicle.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
