Duties

Help
  • You will provide appropriate pre-arrival instructions and relay any additional instructions to the responding units.
  • You will obtain any relevant information to the call to include patient status, location of fire, etc.
  • You will provide location and type of incident to determine appropriate public safety response.
  • You will dispatch fire apparatus, medical apparatus, police units and civilian apparatus, etc.
  • You will monitor status and availability of police, fire, and medical field units to assure an appropriate response is made without the compromise of quality of services to the public.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • Must be able to acquire the following certifications within the first year of employment and maintained continuously without lapse throughout employment: First Aid, CPR, EMD Protocols Certification.
  • Misuse of government IT systems is cause for disciplinary action, including removal.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

GS-06:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes: utilizing communications equipment, computers and Microsoft Office applications, familiar with security and fire protection/prevention/organization and practices relative to various types of emergencies. Knowledge of Military and Civilian Law Enforcement procedures, medical vehicles and equipment. Knowledge of police and medical terminology.

GS-05:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes:utilizing communications equipment, computers and Microsoft Office applications and familiar with security and fire protection/prevention/organization and practices relative to various types of emergencies.

Education

GS-05 ONLY:

-First Aid, CPR, EMD Protocols Certification
