Duties

Help

Directly supports and assists the Youth Director in the daily operations of the youth sports program. Typical duties may include issuing recreation equipment, maintain hand receipts and collects all inventoried items after damage inspection, maintain status of fields/facilities, and interacts with families. Identifies age-appropriate equipment for procurement, selects vendor, purchases gear/equipment when needed. Issues/receives recreational equipment to/from authorized users. Ensures sufficient supplies are on hand and equipment is in good condition to support the sports and fitness program to include any safety concerns. Instruct children/youth on proper use of a variety of equipment. Assists in setting up sports events and may assist in athletic programs such as fun runs or base wide events as needed. Maintains an effective safety and accident prevention program. Conducts daily safety and maintenance checks of facilities, grounds, and outdoor recreation areas. Ensure no observable hazard exists in program areas e.g. walks the playing/practice surface looking for debris and other hazards, evaluates fences, bleachers, and other structures for potential hazards prior to youth play. Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of fields/facilities. Ensures fields are properly marked/lined prior to games/practices. Operates various types of equipment in support of athletic field maintenance. Accurately and timely fills out incident/accident reports for any injuries or accidents during sporting events reports to the chain of command. Documents and maintains referee/umpire contractors logged timesheets for record and payment purposes. Ensure all policies and procedures are carried out by parents, volunteers, and youth during sporting events. Must be able to referee/umpire a variety of youth sports such as: soccer, basketball, flag football, and softball and baseball. Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain, maintain, and provide evidence of current immunizations this includes annual influenza vaccinations and be free of all communicable diseases
  • This position has physical lifting (50lbs +) requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent in subject to random drug testing as a condition of employment**

Qualifications

Knowledge of recreation and leisure program planning concepts, principles, and methodology and practices relating to physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of youth. Knowledge of youth activities regulatory requirements, policies and practices.
Must be 18 years of age or older, High School/GED graduate, ability to speak/read/write English.

Required Immunizations:

  • TDAP = Within the Last 10 Years
  • TB Skin = Negative Results within the Last 12 Months
  • Influenza - Within the Current Flu Season
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Education

High School/GED graduate, ability to speak/read/write English.
