Duties

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assists the Outdoor Recreation (ODR) Director in planning, developing, managing, and maintaining the day-to-day operations of Outdoor Recreation for authorized patrons in accordance with established agency and MAJCOM guidelines. Develops operating instructions and policy guidelines to be followed by volunteers and subordinates.
  • Plans, coordinates, budgets, and executes functional programs for daily services such as RV Storage, Horse Stables, and Equipment Rental. Plans and leads subordinates and is responsible for patron needs. This includes safety when working indoors and outdoors in a multitude of climates and situations. Duties will include ensuring all equipment is ready for patron use, RV Storage and Horse Stable customers are in correct spots and payments are current as well as the management of the Fam-Camp operation.
  • Creates the schedule for ODR employees. Responsible for maintenance, repair, and overall condition of rental equipment. Provides training and ensures safety orientation is addressed for all job duties. Assists in the development of quarterly plans and budgets. Performs a variety of simple, routine, and repetitive accounting duties which could include, but not limited to reviewing, computing, and verification of cashier's reports and bank deposit.
  • Initiates and coordinates work orders, purchase requests, Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPA) and maintenance contracts for ODR. Responsible for accuracy of RecTrac POS system utilized by ODR employees and patrons. While performing duties as a first line supervisor, may be required to issue and receive rental equipment, answer phones, and run front counter operations to include taking payments and reservations. Operates a variety of vehicles to include light to medium duty trucks, passenger vans, tractors and utilities vehicles on and off base. Will cover for the director in their absence over any assigned programs. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Must have 2 years directly related experience in recreation/community programs or outdoor retail to include knowledge of outdoor recreational activities, equipment, rules and procedures. Education may be substituted for experience: Associate's Degree in Recreation or Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Must be able to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing. Experience with outdoor or group cooking is desirable.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
