Duties

Help
  • Require the use of trade practices associated with landscaping and painting as well as work involving motor vehicle operations.
  • Incumbent performs a variety of tasks involving the maintenance and minor repairs of buildings and associated equipment. Prepares and submits work orders for repairs requiring additional expertise.
  • Performs minor grounds maintenance to include ensuring entrances and exits are free from debris, sidewalks are clear of ice/snow, and surfaces are maintained according to safety requirements.
  • Required to operate up to 7.5-ton trucks. Performs operational maintenance on park vehicles and equipment. Operates electric, gasoline or diesel-powered forklift trucks.
  • May conduct and document daily safety inspections of facility and grounds. Monitors access to the facility and grounds to ensure security is maintained.
  • May perform warehouse work to include issuing receiving and inventorying equipment, supplies and materials; loading and unloading of trucks; packing and unpacking material; and repairing or replacing items on equipment.

  • There is a requirement to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds frequently and items that are heavier with the assistance of other employees or lift equipment.
  • As a driver exerts physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls.
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • A health assessment is required.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license to operate assigned government vehicles.
  • This position requires mandatory drug testing.

Qualifications

High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner.
Demonstrated skills in successfully operating standard tools.
Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job.

FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employe.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
