Duties

Help
  • Oversees a comprehensive aircraft program for the MWR Flying Activity.
  • Provides technical advice regarding equipment, recommendations, and decisions for aircraft systems, subsystems and components.
  • Exercises technical knowledge of the concepts, characteristics, properties, and uses of aircraft, general items and ground support equipment needed in aircraft maintenance.
  • Responsible for research and verification of equipment needed to be replaced due to equipment shortage, availability, or the need for modernization.
  • Ensures all required records are preserved. Maintains program and administrative reference materials, project files, and relevant background documents.

  • Possess a valid driver’s license as required by local/state or military regulations.
  • May frequently handle objects weighing up to 20 and occasionally 50 pounds with/without assistance.
  • Must stay current with FAA regulations.
  • This position is covered by the DA Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program. Incumbent is required to sign DA Form 5019-R.
  • This position has critical safety or security responsibilities and as such has been designated as a testing designated position (TDP).
  • As a condition of employment, incumbent of a TDP is subject to a random drug test that occurs without suspicion that a particular individual is using illegal drugs.

Qualifications

Successful completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited undergraduate institution in any field, plus a graduate degree in a relevant field that directly aligns with the responsibilities of this position.
OR
Experience at a level that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for successful performance:
Working as a skilled mechanic or maintenance worker with knowledge of operation, repair, or maintenance of aircraft equipment.
Demonstrated work experience with reviewing, interpreting, and applying technical specifications, standards, and requirements.
Proven experience in analyzing aircraft equipment performance, identifying potential failures, and forecasting spare parts needs.
Ability to accurately read, understand, and interpret equipment requisitions and work orders.

Highly Preferred:
Possess and maintain a current Inspection Authorization (IA) certificate.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
