Duties

Help

Duties include but are not limited to: Responsible for the administration of a well-balanced commercial sponsorship and advertising sales program within the framework of Navy program directives, policies and guidelines to include, but not limited to, developing strategies, identifying opportunities, matching target population/events with potential partners, determining pricing, soliciting sales, preparing contracts and communicating verbally and in writing with corporations, local businesses, vendors, and organizations. Serves as a point of contact on matters pertaining to commercial sponsorship and advertising to include regulations, policies, procedures and best practices. Develops proposal packages and negotiates best terms. Initiates contracts and ensures they are reviewed by legal counsel, agreed to and signed by the appropriate person. Ensures the contractual "quid pro quo" is fulfilled through execution of considerations and completion of evaluation/follow-up reports. Establishes and maintains continuous liaison with program managers and key staff personnel compiling information pertinent to facility programs, services and events. Establishes and maintains liaison with existing and potential sponsors, community businesses, corporate contacts, community service clubs, Chambers of Commerce and military support groups to gather information pertinent to soliciting sponsorship and participation. Identifies specific organizations, corporations, individual foundations, and other sources to make presentations, provide visibility and disseminate information on sponsorship and advertising opportunities to support these programs, services and events. Coordinates site visits, special events and publicity campaigns which recruit support for the commercial sponsorship and advertising program. Maintains personal contacts with major sponsors to help them penetrate the military market. Offers information on military sponsorship, donations, and advertising to interested parties. Coordinates and conducts meetings with installation marketing and program managers and MWR Directors to formulate yearly sponsorship goals. May represent the sponsorship department on special event planning committees to ensure deadlines, sponsorship and advertising fulfillment, equipment, materials, and departmental commitments are met for each event. Conducts yearly assessment of needs for sponsorship and advertising support. Works in conjunction with supervisor and MWR Directors and program managers in establishing priorities. Develops annual commercial sponsorship plan identifying goals, strategies, resource requirements, and measurable evaluation criteria. Responsible for maintaining accounts, record keeping and follow-up communication with sponsors and advertisers. Prepares Purchase Order and Contract requests in compliance with accounting standards for departmental and event-related purchases. May assist with planning work to be accomplished, setting and adjusting short-term priorities, and preparing work completion schedules of sponsorship personnel. Gives advice and instructions on work/administrative matters. Finds ways to improve unit production and quality.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the expertise and acumen to originate promotional materials, presentations, proposals, contracts, legal agreements, reports; and to work with military and civilian media and military protocol.
  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising or sales with documentation of $25,000 or more from one source.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of event management and professional fundraising.
  • Experienced, positive leader and consensus builder who is able to influence the actions of others in obtaining cooperation and assistance to meet operational goals.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite to include Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience and confidence with public speaking including results-oriented phone solicitation.
  • Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to organize workload to meet many long- and short-term deadlines.
  • Skill and experience in coordinating large scale, complex activities and events.
  • Skill in effectively managing financial and physical resources available for the program segment.

Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period.
