Duties

Help
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and/or overhaul major components and systems: engines, transmissions, differentials, transaxles, electronic fuel injection, emission control, related electrical, electronic, hydraulic, fuel, and other assemblies.
  • Tears down, adjusts, repairs, reassembles, and runs operational checks on components of these systems following instructions contained in technical manuals.
  • Isolates and repairs complex malfunctions which are often difficult to trace by a combination of visual and auditory examinations.
  • Uses a wide variety of test equipment such as computerized engine analyzers, compression testers, test benches, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and special feeler and dial gauges.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license as required by local/state or military regulations.
  • Hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 0730-1600. Facility is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Federal Holidays. Must be willing to work rotating shifts.
  • Physical Effort: Work is often performed in tiring, awkward and uncomfortable positions. Frequent standing, bending, stooping and crawling. Lifts supplies and/or equipment weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • An employer referred pre-employment physical examination is required.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements:

Demonstrated work experience directly related to the duties described above that include the skills and knowledge listed.

HIGHLY PREFERRED

Are those candidates that possess both the minimum qualifications above and at least one of the following:

  • Automotive Mechanic License
  • Automotive Air Conditioning Repairer License.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.

Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
