Duties

Help

Including but not limited to:

  • Shelves books, magazines, and other library materials ensuring all materials are re-shelved in correct order.
  • Reviews the library collection to ensure library materials are maintained in correct order in their assigned areas.
  • Assists with automated and manual circulation duties, registering and deleting customers, charging and discharging library material, and checking to ensure those requests are filled.
  • Uses a variety of computer and word processing software. Performs routine clerical tasks such as answering the telephone, taking messages, and referring customers to the appropriate staff member. Assists in maintaining and updated library statistics and filing.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience in responsible clerical or office work of any kind that demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties satisfactorily. Must have experience or training that demonstrates the ability to perform simple computer and word processing. Typing skills are desirable. Work requires some physical exertion. Must possess skill in working with the public.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
