The purpose of this position is to serve as an operation officer for lodging operations across the globe. The incumbent of this position assumes a key role in providing support to the Chief of Air Force Lodging, as well as continuing technical advice and assistance in the support of those operations; within operations, finance, and information technology branches of the Air Force Lodging programs.
Assists with the establishment and implementation of lodging rates in coordination with SAF/FMC, AF/A1S, and AFSVA/FMNF. Reviews Air Force Lodging Fund (AFLF) funded projects for consistency with standards and compliance with established contracts and purchasing agreements and assists with processing purchase requests through the automated base services system or Internet-based purchasing system, monitoring the preparation of purchase orders and related contracts, ensuring receipts of goods and services, and processing vendor invoices for payment. Works with financial reports for VQ and TLF assessments. Perform financial analysis and gathers statistical data. Manages facility database to provide tracking and recommendations for capital investments. Performs various office functions in support of lodging management to include budget forms and general correspondence. Assists in developing criteria to evaluate the Air Force Inns to ensure that standards are being met. Identifies and recommends needed process/policy changes based upon evaluation of current program. Performs field visits to evaluate base-level lodging operations' performance and customer service; provides staff assistance to improve local performance of the lodging operation. Oversees standardization of personnel resources among the Inns to include standardized personnel manning guidelines, standardized position descriptions, and coordination with the Air Force Services Career Program to ensure appropriate career pathing is maintained within the Lodging function. Organizes reports and correspondence for special program offices such as General Accounting Office (GAO), Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC), Air Force Audit Agency (AFAA), and Joint Basing. Conducts training (classroom and on-the-job training) for personnel assigned to all departments of the lodging function to meet current standards for customer service and efficiency. Provides briefings to Air Staff, other DoD activities and base level personnel. Assists in the management of the annual Air Force Innkeeper program from the evaluation of the competing bases to the awards luncheon. Provides assistance in the management for the annual AF Lodging Manager's Conference. May be required to travel TDY as directed by management, sometimes on short notice, traveling by military or commercial aircraft or by any other designated means. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:
Requires a broad knowledge of lodging operations (accounting, training and front desk operation) at the base, FOA, or Air Staff levels. Completion of a bachelor degree in related area desirable; degree may be substituted for some of the required job experience. Experience in nonappropriated fund financial administration of lodging operations is highly desirable. Must have the proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Experience in the use of personal computers, lodging automated systems, and a purchasing system. Ability to analyze and evaluate plans, methods, procedures and techniques of supply, services and programs to provide new or changed policies needed to achieve objectives of lodging funds. Ability to develop briefings, training aids, lesson plans, talking papers and other presentations for classroom instruction, conference briefings and other required briefings or presentations.
