Duties

Help

  • Receives, store, and issue a variety of bin and bulk supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Receives incoming shipments from off-loading areas and checks receiving vouchers to ensure quality and quantity of items received
  • Assembles items into groups based on information shown on receiving vouchers, segregate materials as necessary and routes along appropriate processing lines.
  • Holds materials for inspection according to established procedures, and routes items not requiring inspection to proper storage.
  • Reports overages, shortages, or damaged conditions to supervisor.
  • Based on knowledge of warehousing plan, selects storage locations and stores, stacks, and palletizes items considering their use, size, shape, quantity, and possibility of contamination to or from other items.
  • Select items for shipment or issue.
  • Check the condition of shipping containers and ensure that items are properly loaded or packed.
  • Obtains authorized signature on issue documents and keeps necessary copy of requisition to account for issues.
  • Assists in end-of-month inventories of stock by counting items in storage areas.
  • Ensures that supplies and equipment are always safeguarded and secure.
  • Prepares shipping and inventory documents with required data for manual or automated inventory systems.
  • Secures all storerooms as required.
  • Adheres to fire and safety regulations.
  • Operates a wide variety of hand and power tools.
  • Operates heavy duty vehicles including trucks up to 4 tons, gasoline and electric powered forklifts.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Received general instructions from a supervisor.
  • Assignments are usually completed without guidance on methods, procedures, or technique and work is reviewed for compliance with general guidelines and results achieved.
  • Work independently using computer terminals, keyboards, and optical scanners to develop coding data or with traditional printed shipping and receiving documents, making written entries and verifying data in printed formats.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
  • Must have experience in and knowledge of a wide variety of warehouse plans, methods, procedures, and techniques of material handling
  • Must be able to use mechanized equipment for storage and retrieval
  • Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Knowledge of supply inventory and accountability procedures and regulations.
Conditions of Employment:
  • Must satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 background check
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid operator's license
  • Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical and drug test

Education
