Duties

Help

As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-12, you will manage, monitor or perform overall maintenance within the CAMP and FAA framework, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance UH-72A military aircraft. Request maintenance services exceeding AASF capabilities or time constraints. Control and perform work assignments based upon priorities, workload availability of UH-72A parts, facilities, material and personnel. Maintain UH-72A aircraft under FAA and manufacturer guidelines and conducts inspections IAW Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) maintenance publications and special inspection criteria as outlines in FAA, OEM and Army maintenance and safety messages. Plan, develop and conduct proficiency training during the technician work week to a multi-faceted workforce comprised of Full Time Support (FTS) and supported unit personnel. Comply with safety, fire, security, environmental, and housekeeping regulations. May participate in operational flights as a crewmember. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

  • Preplacement Medical Requirements: Selectee will be required to undergo medical testing, at the expense of the government, prior to beginning employment. Medical tests are used to determine fitness and eligibility for employment.
  • Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility.
  • For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
  • The incumbent must possess/obtain within 12 months of position selection, an A/P certificate issues by the FAA per CFR Title 14, Part 65, subpart D.
  • The incumbent must possess or be eligible for award of the appropriate security clearance fort this position.
  • 3. The incumbent may be required to maintain NGB Non-Aviator Flying Status and qualify for Class III Flying Duties

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-4 through E-6

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 18 months experience or training equivalent to or exceeding the WG-10 or WU-10 grade level, positions at this grade level may include performing duties as a dedicated crew chief; other positions may include responsibility for performing, coordinating, and/or overseeing the work and any periodic inspections to be done on an aircraft whether it is alone, or with the assistance of other mechanics and/or workers; some positions may include coordinating the work of other journey-level workers in other trades to work simultaneously on the aircraft; other positions may include serving as the technical authority to advise on, examine, and approve all airframe, mechanical, electrical, and pneudraulic repairs of assigned aircraft.
