You will assist journeymen Boat Joiners and Sheetmetal Mechanics with work that cannot be handled alone and also performs less difficult tasks alone.
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
* Using power and hand tools common to the trades for working on less difficult tasks such as preparing and finishing surfaces by grinding, sealing and sanding decks, and deck coverings; repairing, installing various types of terrazzo, epoxy, etc.
* Installing and removing protecting coverings where needed; installing sheathing; assisting in the fabrication and installation of sheetmetal components.
