Duties

Help
  • Picks up loose, stray or disabled domestic animals causing alarm or representing a threat to the safety of personnel; transports domestic animals to the Post Kennel/Veterinary Clinic.
  • Immediately transports all injured or disabled animals to the Post Veterinary Clinic; attempts to identify and notify owners from Clinic records.; requests MP assistance for all domestic animal neglect to the MP desk.
  • Transports captured animals involved in bite incidents and those suspected to be rabid to the Post Veterinary Clinic for observation and disposition; completes Animal Control/Disposition Report for every animal captured.
  • Completes Animal Control/Disposition Report for every animal captured and furnishes copies to Post Veterinary office, Department of Public Works and/or Provost Marshall Office.
  • Cleans and sanitize animal cages and water pans; feed and provide fresh water for all confined animals; protects animals from extreme weather conditions; administers topical and/or oral medications as directed. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Lifting and carrying animals/materials weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment health physical.
  • Posses a valid Driver's License and upload copy at time of application.
  • Obtain and maintain a Post Driver's License.
  • Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

Experience in performing the duties described above and the ability to follow oral and written instructions involving those duties.

**Must have a valid state driver's license and provide a copy at the time of application.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
