Reporting to the Director, Marine Corps Community Services Hawaii, the purpose of this position is to plan, manage, and administer a comprehensive year-round Commercial Recreation, Recreation Lodging, Tourism, and Outdoor Recreation aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii.  Program oversight includes all aspects of Commercial Recreation, Tourism, and Outdoor Recreation.  Specific programs include:  Commercial Recreation (Golf, Bowling, Boating and Marinas, Scuba, Auto Skills Center, Archery); Recreational Lodging (Beach Cottages, Cabanas, Fairway Inn and Klipper Villas), Tourism (Information, Tickets & Tours, and Leisure Travel); Special Outdoor Events.

Serves as the installation Director for business recreation programs and independently oversees the day-to-day operation of designated ongoing recreational-type program aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii.  Develops operational guidelines for the full range of actions and standards for local program operations when established guidelines have not been successful, do not apply or none are available.  Determines local or HQ driven appropriate products or services with customers to define program scope, requirements and deliverables when groups have complex characteristics on base.  Develops, modifies or provides input to program plans providing best of current successful projects to stimulate development and improvement of programs.  Manages, leads or administers project resources.  

Formulates, administers and monitors the operating and capital budget for Commercial Recreation, Recreational Lodging and Tourism programs and services.  Reviews and analyzes programs for operational efficiencies, cost avoidance, and revenue generation opportunities.  Evaluates alternative management strategies, performs cost benefit analysis and cost effectiveness of operations.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

A bachelor¿s degree in general recreation, or a related field of recreation such as outdoor recreation, commercial recreation, or community recreation and four years of specialized experience that demonstrates possession of managerial/supervisory knowledge and skills in managing multiple commercial recreation programs at a headquarters, installation or equivalent level, OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR appropriate experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above. Knowledge of military recreational programs with emphasis on commercial recreation, tourism and outdoor recreational programs and services preferred.
