Duties

Help

The Primary Purpose of this position is to mix and serve pre-mixed alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages from a limited service bar.

  • Prepares and serves a limited variety of alcoholic drinks: mixed drinks, beer, wine and soda.
  • Receives payments, operates cash register, sets up bar, prepares cash funds documents.
  • Stocks, cleans and maintains bar area and equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Complete and maintain Food Handlers Training and other required training within 30 days of appointment and other required training
  • Meet the minimum age requirement, 18 years of age, for serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Complete and maintain a favorable Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and one every three years thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health, ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Perform shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:

  • Knowledge of mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale, including knowledge of correct proportions and mixtures, and recognizing intoxicated patrons and resolving the problem.
  • Must be able to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons.
  • Follow cash handling procedures.
  • Must meet the appropriate minimum age, 18 years of age, requirement for working with and/or serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with customers and possess skill in dealing with the public.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.

Additional information

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit.
