Duties

Help

Assists in developing and implementing marketing programs for the Force Support Squadron. Under the direction of the Marketing Director, assists in determining marketing techniques and strategies to increase efficiency, enhance participation, and increase financial income to the Squadron. Responsible for curating fresh, relevant, and informative content. Composes, writes, and edits various content for publication for internal and external print and digital publications. Rewrites and edits materials written by others and ensures compliance with established editorial guidelines such as the Associated Press Stylebook. Ensures all internal and external advertising and marketing media is accurate and clearly depicts editorial standards and quality of the Squadron. Assists in conducting qualitative and quantitative market research. Administers surveys, collects data, tabulates responses, and assists the Marketing Director in analyzing results. Keeps the Marketing Director informed of consumer trends and their application to the activities. Makes recommendations to the Marketing Director on program modifications and enhancements. Assists in developing training programs in areas related to marketing, such as the marketing process, advertising strategies, customer relations, and media techniques. Attends major Squadron events and provides constructive marketing feedback to the activity manager. Assists in conducting advertising campaigns. Assists the Marketing Director in developing communication strategies to determine the most effective and efficient method of reaching the target market. Assists in conducting media relations with on- and off-base media in concert with the Public Affairs Office. Provides or arranges for photographic/video support for Squadron functions. Prepares and presents briefings to base functions such as Newcomers' Orientation and Commander's Call. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This position requires the incumbent to work an uncommon tour of duty to provide coverage on evenings, weekends and holidays.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
  • Experience which provides a general knowledge of marketing/advertising principles and practices.
  • Experience must demonstrate the ability to perform research, select, arrange and compose material and maintain well-organized files.
  • In addition, must have specialized experience which demonstrates the ability to design and layout advertising copy and artwork using desktop publishing software, word processing and other software.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Must possess skill in dealing with customers and public.
  • Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
