Duties

  • You will develops and administers an installation-wide Substance Abuse prevention and education awareness program for assigned military personnel and other military tenant/support elements
  • You will identify, track, and coordinate training and draft appointment letters for Urinalysis Program Coordinators, Assistant Substance Abuse Control Officer (SACOs), and observers.
  • You will schedule, collect, label, and process random urinalysis tests and administers breathalyzer test to at least 10% of the command, monthly.
  • You will serve as the initial point of contact for all individuals entering the Substance Abuse Program.
  • You will develop installation-wide substance abuse prevention education plan of instruction and develops lesson plans for all training conducted.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing Prevention education, alcohol and drug abuse prevention training, coordinating, monitoring treatment and care for individuals undergoing counseling, performing a variety of administrative and technical support duties involving the Substance Abuse Program.

Must have a combination of specialized experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience must equal 100 percent.

The work requires certifications associated with biochemical test requirements in order to conduct military and civilian biochemical breath alcohol and urinalysis tests in accordance with Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Navy (DON), and Department of Transportation (DOT) directives and policies).

Priority consideration will be given to military spouse preference and family member preference eligible residing in the commute area of the duty location for this position. Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily.
