Duties

Help
  • Transport patients to and from offsite activities such as AA meetings, church, recreational sites and other places as approved by SARP management. Responsible for the safety of the van's passengers.
  • Inspect the van prior to driving, checking for external and internal damage, worn tires, adequate fuel supply, etc., and reports any discrepancies to the Medical Administrative Officer (MAO) and the Motor Vehicle Supervisor.
  • Maintain clear and thorough communication with Department Duty Officer should there be any discrepancies related to patient behaviors, unauthorized absences, and/or vehicle problems.
  • Remain at the assigned function of the patients to drive them back to SARP.
  • Maintain accountability of all patients, reporting immediately any patient passenger absences and/or patient violations of rules and standards of conduct.

  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 25 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state CDL B W/Passenger endorsement Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Motor Vehicle Operator ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common duties ofdriver's maintenance in accordance with established regulations, the ability to load and unload passengers, and skilled in completing vehicle utilization records and driver's accident report when necessary.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: Moderate physical effort is utilized in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls of loaded vehicles weighing up to 5 tons. Moderate physical effort is required in lifting, loading and unloading cargo. Receives assistance from other ware houseman, laborers, and equipment operators when moving items over 25 pounds.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: May be exposed to cold, drafty, damp or hot weather while loading and unloading vehicle. Subject to possible injury from falling stock. Subject to bruises and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving vehicles.
