Conducts preliminary engineering investigation to establish the feasibility and validity of projects analyzing conditions and rendering technical advice and recommendations.
Utilizes engineering technician skills and knowledge in the inspections of facilities and associated systems; in the reviews of construction drawings and specifications
Plans, directs and reviews the work of a multi-disciplined staff of wage grade trades.
Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
Acts as a liaison to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) on maintenance, repair, and various other construction projects.
Inspects work in progress to ensure compliance with provisions of the appropriate maintenance and construction contracts, as well as compliance with all codes and standards.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position
This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a grade 1 stationary engineer license.

To qualify for the Supervisor Engineering Technician (Boiler Plant) GS-0802-12 position, you MUST have the one of the following Basic Occupational Requirements shown below:
I have specialized experience including technical work in the areas such as: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. OR
I have experience in a trade or craft that work required intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents for example trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: a Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes or an Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. OR
I am certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies, an organization sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers.
AND
SECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Knowledge, familiarity with policies and procedures, and knowledge of engineering methods to provide the guidance necessary to develop and program projects for the maintenance, repair, and improvement of the boiler/chiller plant. Knowledge in the inspections of facilities and associated systems; in the reviews of construction drawings and specifications; in; identifying identifies potential maintenance and operational problems; and in preparing engineering changes and modifications to structures and utility systems to correct maintenance and operations problems; and to incorporates alterations and modifications requested by the customer. Knowledge of Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) on maintenance, repair, and various other construction projects.
