Duties

Help
  • Responsible for the synchronization of all Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center activities in support of Brigade S3 and enterprise operations.
  • Monitors the status of personnel deployed in support of exercises or real- world contingencies.
  • Plans, directs, supervises, and exercises administrative oversight authority for compliance and accomplishment of the mission essential functions related to Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center's operational requirements.
  • Develops and recommends the framework for Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center wide policies, programs and systems designed to increase efficiency and economy of Command functions and operations.
  • Develops, analyzes, and evaluates plans, operations, programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance to military operational standards.
  • Supports, guides, and enables the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center Operations Office to oversee several contracts and financial responsibilities ISO current and future operations.
  • Responsible for Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center's Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) and Operations Security (OPSEC) programs.
  • Produces, monitors, and refines Operation Orders (OPORD), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other documents required for the implementation of Emergency and Contingency Operations.
  • Remains informed of military, political-military, and technical developments within Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in order to conduct effective, time sensitive operations.
  • Oversee Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center requirements for Emergency Readiness Exercises and works in conjunction with the USAG for AT/FP related exercises.
  • Maintains liaison with higher headquarters to promote a better understanding and acceptance of Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center.
  • Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
  • Gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) developing, analyzing and evaluating plans, exercises, operations and procedures in accordance with military operations standards; 2) conducting training studies, identifying possible problem areas and recommending solutions; 3) coordinating operations in joint and coalition environments (military) and/or equivalent environments (industry and/or academia) with multiple organizations; 4) experience working with emergency, disaster and special plans (such as operational security, civil defense, disaster relief, civil disturbances) for an organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent GS-12. To be referred, applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and qualification requirements within 30 days from the date the referral list is issued.
