Duties

Help
  • Serves as an Information Technology Specialist, with emphasis on systems programming and systems administration of all operating systems, in a Cyber Battalion, Cyber Brigade.
  • Serves as the technical authority for the design, development and maintenance of mini/micro executive systems, Wide and Local Area Networks.
  • Serves as the technical authority for the design, development and maintenance government and commercial software in support of multiple computer systems and equipment in the operational and administrative area.
  • Provides operational, technical and systems security support for all ADPE systems throughout the command.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance based on a Single- Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain access to National Security Agency (NSA) facilities and networks.
  • Temporary duty (TDY) travel may be required 25% or less.
  • All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.
  • Stress is inherent in the nature of work. Short-suspense actions and pressures of time contribute to heightened demands. May be subject to short notice expanded hours, possible recall situations, and irregular work hours, including weekends/holidays.
  • Overtime/shift work may be required.
  • Position is considered Non-Combat Essential (NCE) and during periods of increased tension and mobilization could be assigned to any location worldwide.
  • Must sign a DD Form 2365 acknowledging that certain levels of medical, security, performance, conduct, and overall fitness must be maintained to be suitable for assignment to an austere and stressful combat environment.

Army DCIPS positions apply Veteran's Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 U.S.C., in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one (1) year of experience equivalent to at least the GG/GS-11 in the Federal service which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Monitoring the day-to-day activity and performance of various on-site computer systems; developing, installing, and maintaining government and commercial off-the-shelf operating system software, firmware, hardware and networks; and, overseeing the development and update of the lifecycle cost estimate. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GG/GS-11).

In addition to the specialized experience listed above, your resume must show you have Information Technology-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies as defined:

4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
