Duties

Help
  • You will perform construction, alteration, maintenance and repair of buildings and structures.
  • You will work on doors, windows, paneling, interior and exterior trim, stairs, beams and framing.
  • You will install, maintain, repairs and/or replace roof or roof components on buildings and structures.
  • You will maintain, repair, and construct rigid pavements or similar cement and concrete surfaces.
  • You will measure, cut, bend or thread pipe using hand and power tools or machines.
  • You will read blueprints, sketches, and technical manuals.

  • Occasional travel away from the normal duty station is required. Not to exceed 5%
  • The incumbent must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and Commercial Driver's License for the class and type of vehicle to be driven.
  • The incumbent is required to complete a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • The employee lifts, carries, and handles equipment and materials up to 40 pounds unassisted and over 40 pounds with assistance. Works from ladders.
  • Occasionally works from scaffolding platforms where equipment, parts, or tools are hard to reach. Work requires stooping, stretching, bending, kneeling, and working in tiring, uncomfortable positions.
  • A T3 Secret clearance is required.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Assisting with installing, altering, and repairing of work assignments through work orders, sketches or basic blueprints; 2) Assisting with materials, parts and other items necessary to accomplish the work; 3) Assisting in installing, maintaining, repairing and/or replacing components on buildings and structures. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
