The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Operations Command (SpOC) at The Pentagon is searching for a Congressional Affairs Specialist (NH-0301-03, GS 12/13 equivalent).

Description:
The United States Space Force (USSF) LL stand up was directed by the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal year 2024 (FY24 NDAA). We are in the process of building an integrated team (with SAF/LL) to fully support the Congressional priorities of the SecAF, CSO, and CSAF. The incumbent will be responsible for developing NDAA summaries, research and analysis for engagement packages, and Congressional engagement strategy.

The ideal candidate should have functional expertise in managing high interest, often complex or controversial Congressional issues. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to the highest levels of leadership in verbal and written communications to include posture or position papers and engagement preparation packages. Congressional liaison experience or action officer experience within the Department of the Air Force (DAF) highly desired.

Keys Skills and Abilities:
1. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to prepare and present briefings, coordinate planning efforts and manage program activities.
2. Ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide of contacts across many streams in the public and private sector to further organizational initiatives.
3. Ability to research, analyze, interpret and apply rules, regulations and procedures to a variety of situations and to recommend timey and economical solutions.

  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Critical Sensitive security clearance.

  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY.
